Police have arrested a man has been arrested in connection with a drive by shooting in Flagstaff. The Arizona Daily Sun Reports that police have detained 38-year-old Isaac Garcia after receiving a tip from Silent Witness. Garcia’s vehicle is alleged to have matched the victim’s description.

To the southwest of Flagstaff, Coconino National Forest Officials are working on the Newman Fire north of Mormon Lake. It does not pose any current danger, but has burned 215 acres as of this report. Smoke may be visible from Lake Mary Road, but the fire does not currently pose a threat to any humans or structures.

A heat warning issued yesterday by the National Weather Service continues into today. The bottom of the Grand Canyon is expected to reach 108 to 112 degrees, and other nearby locations such as Sedona may also be affected by high temperatures. Weather today is expected to be Sunny with a high near 88 degrees and southwest winds at 5 to 10 miles per hour, which will increase this afternoon to 12 to 17 miles per hour, though gusts could get as high as 29 miles per hour. Tonight we will have mostly clear skies with a low around 55 and southwest winds at 5 to 14 miles per hour, though wind speeds could get as high as 22. There is no chance of rain in the current forecast.
