Prescribed burns are being planned for tomorrow near Kachina Village. Plans have been made to burn a 600 acre area starting at 9 a.m. Smoke may have an impact on Arizona highways such as I-17, State Route 89, and the Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, thought it is expected to move towards the northeast. This comes in the wake of a prescribed burn Tuesday in the Anderson Mesa.

An award has been awarded by the governor to the staff, partners, and volunteers of the Kaibab National Forest. The award has been given in honor of their restoration of a fire watch cabin dating back to 1911. The restoration began in 2016 after a tree fell on its roof, and included the efforts of partners such as Northern Arizona University, Davey Mac Studio and Workshop, and American Conservation Experience among others.

Flagstaff had some interesting guests this weekend with a visit from Rapper Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian West. The couple dined at Teppan Fuji to celebrate West’s birthday. According to the Arizona Daily Sun the restaurant’s owner, Alex Fang, asked why the couple chose to come to Flagstaff, but West declined to answer with more than a smile.

Low of 51 expected for tonight along with cloudy skies and southwest winds from 5 to 9 miles per hour. There is no chance of rain in the current forecast.
