I’m Grant Helton with KJACK Radio News and these are your top headlines for Tuesday, February 19th.

The heaviest snowfall from a winter storm moving across northern Arizona has already fallen. The national weather service says Flagstaff has seen more than 14 inches of snow. Another winter storm is expected to move through northern Arizona on Thursday and Friday.

Helicopters are carrying fallen trees off of Mount Elden in order to reduce the severity of forest fires. This project has been going since mid-January and is the first of its kind in northern Arizona. Local residents are supporting the project as it will help reduce wildfires and the need for prescribed burns. The timber collected will be available to various buyers for mass purchases.

A 34-year-old Arizona man was rescued after being stuck in quicksand at the Zion National Park in Utah. Park officials said that the man was hiking when he became stuck and could not free himself. While the man was with a woman they could not get him out. The women then hiked for three hours to get cell service and call emergency authorities. When the police found the man he showed since of hypothermia and injuries to his body. It took them several hours to free the man. A helicopter was able to take the man out of the park where he took an ambulance to the hospital.

A handful of recreational areas in Sedona were closed over the weekend due to heavy flooding. The water moved rapidly through the campsites knocking over grills and burying picnic tables. The sites will remain closed until crews can clear the debris and repair any damages. The Sedona Fire District says Oak Creek rose by more than 12 feet.

A man has been arrested following a rollover crash that killed one person on the I-17. The Arizona Department of Public safety says that only one vehicle was involved in this crash and it occured around 12:30 am. According to the DPS, the vehicle left the road where it rolled and struck a palm tree. Two of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle. The driver was arrested and charged with first degree murder, aggravated assault, and endangerment.

The weather for today shows a chance of snow showers in the morning with a high of 27 and winds at 10 to 15 mph. At night, we can see clear skies with a low of 2 and winds 5 to 10 mph. It's best to avoid being outside for too long tonight.
