On Thursday, September 27th, one of Flagstaff’s own school record winning streak came to an end. For Northland Preparatory Academy’s girls soccer team, it had been two years and 35 games since their last loss.

These two years also included their 2A Conference title championship. On Thursday night, they lost 1-0 to the Chino Valley team they beat in the championship title game last season.

The matchup was visiting number two in the conference: Chino Valley vs number one

defending champions Northland Preparatory Academy. NPA felt great coming off of a 9-0 win against Snowflake high school.

However, this match-up went down to the wire.

The only goal came off of one of Chino’s top players, Senior Lauren Foster, which came from a deep, 30 yard tear-drop free kick goal with only 19 minutes left in the game.

It was a tight game all around. NPA had a lot of chances on the goal but unfortunately could not capitalize on the opportunities.

This was a tough loss for everyone on the team, including the seniors who started the

undefeated streak when they were only sophomores.

NPA looks to travel to Camp Verde to take on the Cowboys on the 2nd of October. Camp Verde coming off of a 1-0 loss on Payson, having also lost against Chino Valley.

NPA should most certainly bounce back from the Chino loss.
