I’m Grant Helton with KJACK radio news and these are your top headlines for Wednesday, April 3rd, 2019. 

A Los Angeles artist is seeking damages in a lawsuit against a grand canyon hotel for allegedly serving him gluten. The man, who suffers from celiac disease asked the staff to make sure multiple times what he ordered was prepared gluten-free. He fell ill just a few hours later and says he continues to feel pain now. Attorneys for the hotel were unable to comment.

Political commentator Paris Dennard is seeking nearly $10 million from Arizona State University. He claims they intentionally released the results of an investigation into sexual misconduct to damage his reputation. Dennard claims the university said the full report would not be made public. He went on the say he was subject to “immediate and severe” damage after the story was published. The Arizona Board of Regents, which oversees ASU, has 60 days to respond to the claim before a lawsuit can be filled.

A former US Customs and Border Protection officer was sentenced to one-year probation for his earlier guilty plea to lying about his citizenship on his passport. The officer had previously acknowledged telling authorities he was born in Texas when he actually born in Mexico. In a letter to the judged, the officer said his parents told him when he was growing up in Mexico that he was a US citizen. He was sentenced Thursday in Tuscon.

OneAZ Credit Union is showing its support of the new High Country Humane animal shelter by holding a pet food drive leading up to shelters April 13th official opening celebration. Dog and cat food donations will be accepted at both OneAZ branches now through April 12. OneAZ will be matching donations pound-to-pound up to 1,000lbs. The food will help stock High county Humane’s food supply for its animals as well as its Pet Food Pantry which provides free food to dogs and cats in low-income families.
