Seniors Ty Furr and Dawson Buckley knew that this was the biggest game of their lives. Not only was it their senior night and final appearance in the FlagCoco rivalry, but they even had an outside chance to make the playoffs.

Under the pressure, they delivered in front of their fans. In only the third matchup in the 928 rivalry played at Coconino High School at Cromer Stadium,

Coconino defeated their crosstown rivals Flagstaff High 24-10 to finish 7-3 and 4-2 in sectional play on the season.

Ty Furr, their senior quarterback, sprinted past the Flagstaff High defense late in the first quarter for a 60-yard touchdown that tied the score at 7. Then their other senior offensive leader, Dawson Buckley, took over the game as he rushed 16 times for 139 yards and an average yards per carry of 8.7. He was instrumental in the two second half touchdowns they scored as he rumbled his way through the gassed Flagstaff defense. He helped set up two short rushing touchdowns by junior running back Eli Dehererra.

Buckley was also instrumental in a stout Coconino defensive effort as outside of a short touchdown drive set up by a fumble by sophomore running back Zach Bennett, they shut down the Flagstaff offense led by senior Josh Morrow. Buckley recorded 10 tackles and held the Eagles offense to 3 points after the first quarter.

Coconino finished the season 7-3, which was their best record since 2004, and while they did not get enough outside help to make the 4A playoffs, their senior leaders Furr and Buckley delivered one final show in front of their crazed fans against their bitter crosstown rivals.
