In Williams, construction has begun on a new Temple of World Peace and meditation garden. The temple, which will house 1,000 visitors, will be the fifth such structure throughout the world, serving Buddhist of the New Kadampa Tradition. The temple is scheduled to open on September 26.

Near Superior, a wildfire in the Superstition Mountains has burned 176 square miles. As of this report, containment is at 25%. The fire has burned for nearly 17 days, and is believed to have been human caused.

An 81 year old man has been deemed competent to stand trial in charges involving a bank robbery. The alleged robber, Robert Krebs, claimed he was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, but was deemed unimpaired by a psychologist. Krebs is charged with the robbery of a Tucson Credit Union last year.

We’re expecting an increase in clouds today with a high around 81 and light winds to the southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a low of 46 and winds southwest at 6 to 11 miles per hour.
